Take-Out Chinese Dishes That Are Good To Eat Cold The Following Day

One thing that you'll often find when you order food from a Chinese take-out restaurant is that you can't eat it all in one sitting. This type of eatery is often generous with its serving sizes, meaning that you'll need to have a plan for the leftovers. Many people enjoy consuming their leftovers for lunch or dinner the following day, but some people will even grab a few bites as breakfast before they leave the house. If you tend to be short on time, it's ideal if you don't need to heat your Chinese food leftovers. Some dishes are better to eat cold than others, including the following.

Lo Mein

Most Chinese restaurants have a variety of lo mein dishes on the menu, giving you plenty of choices when you order. Lo mein dishes center around their noodles and sauce, and you can usually find a combination of vegetables, meats, or both, mixed in. In general, lo mein is a perfect dish to enjoy cold the next day. It's not as greasy as some Chinese food dishes, which means that there won't be any congealed fat that may turn you off. Grab some chopsticks, mix up your leftovers, and dig in.

Egg Rolls

There's little doubt that egg rolls are best to eat when they're hot, but you may want to try them cold the following day. It takes a bit of time to heat up an egg roll, given the hard outer shell. In the time that it takes to heat your leftovers, you could likely polish off the egg rolls and be on your way. Usually, if you have egg rolls that are left over, you'll have some dipping sauce that remains, too. Even cold, egg rolls dipped in this sauce can be delicious.

Fried Rice

Fried rice is another Chinese restaurant dish that is best to eat hot, and that you might instinctively plan to heat up the next day. There's nothing wrong with this idea, of course, but heating up rice can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. If you're in a rush and set the temperature on your stove too high, you can easily burn some of the rice — often resulting in an unpleasant flavor that permeates the dish. You might be surprised at how delicious fried rice can be when it's cold. Whether you consume it right out of the fridge or leave it out for a bit to get to room temperature, this is a dish that satisfies.
